
Opleiding: Juridische PAO Cursus - Legal Development in Modern China
Leerdoel
The Chinese legal system has developed rapidly since the end of the 1970s, in parallel with China's miraculous economic success. Obviously, this generates a growing interest among Western legal practitioners in understanding Chinese law.
This course intends to provide insightful knowledge and information on the key features of law-making and law enforcement in post-Mao China and the role of lawyers in building the rule of law in transitional society.
Four topics will be addressed particularly:
(1) Chinese legal tradition and the path of modernizing law
(2) Legal development in the past thirty years
(3) Reforming the judicial system
(4) Emergence of the legal profession
