Due to the specific international/ Anglo-Saxon character of the course content, this programme is delivered exclusively in the English language (with the exception of the course part conducted in the Netherlands).
Roehampton University, School of Education offers in co-operation with Fontys School of Special Educational Needs (Opleidingscentrum Speciale Onderwijszorg, OSO) a master programme Special Educational Needs of 90 ects. The degree awarded is a Roehampton degree.
The degrees are compliant with the British Government's Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) guidelines and standards.
Candidates who already hold an HBO master's degree are conditionally eligible for exemptions till a maximum of 40 ECs.
Programma
First year:
- Introduction meeting
- September: enrolment and arrangement first study visit to UK and start of APEL (APEL: Accreditation of Prior and Experiential Learning; APL: Accreditation of Prior Learning).
- October: study visit to UK , school visit; learning resource centre activities; APEL; introduction to module ‘International Perspectives reflective Practice in Education' (IPPE)
- November-January: Module IPPE)
- January hand task IPPE
- January-June: module Research Methodology
- March: second study visit to UK; school visits and LRC-activities
- September 1: hand in task Research Methodology and intro to dissertation (proposal); Hand in APEL (work during the whole first year)
Second year:
Teaching methods
The course is conducted in English (except the APEL and the Dutch part of the programme).
Toelatingseisen
- Relevant BA education and 3 years of working experience.
- Academic level of thinking.
- Average score of IELTS level 6.5
- Intake assessment for each student is required.
