Schouten University

Schouten University is a highly respected distance education provider offering accredited degree programs throughout the globe. As well as gaining the benefits of high-quality knowledge and flexible learning paths, as a student at Schouten University you are trained to develop “soft skills” to significantly increase your effectiveness as a manager. The University is an initiative of Schouten Global, the Netherlands-based umbrella organisation of a group of companies serving hundreds of businesses across the world and tens of thousands of people in the field of training and education. Schouten University’s MBA programme takes a unique approach to masters level learning by incorporating a blended learning system, combining cutting edge academic theory with a real hands on approach to soft skills training. Schouten and Nelissen, the parent organisation of Schouten University has been at the forefront of soft skills training since the early 1980’s. They support corporate management all over the world in achieving their goals in global markets, by focusing on organisational development and by developing their leaders and employees. In today’s global economy, commercial companies and not-for-profit organisations increasingly embrace the whole world as their workplace. Along with the immense opportunities of this new reality have come unexpected challenges as well. How do we best organise effective learning across borders? How do we address highly diverse training demands worldwide? How do we bind our people to a common set of corporate values while taking local realities into account? These are just some of the many issues that students of Schouten University are involved with whilst studying for their MBA.
Unique Skills & Personal Development Program
The correct balance of hard skills and soft skills is the key to the development of future managers and leaders. At Schouten University, a great deal of attention will be paid to ensure that students are equipped with the required hard skills, for example business planning, project planning and financial analysis.
But it’s the soft skills, sometimes called “people skills”, which will particularly prepare students for a strong management position in any type of organisation.
Soft skills includes, but is not limited to:
- Effective communication.
- Conflict management.
- Successful problem solving.
- Situational leadership.
The Schouten University MBA programme develops these skills to enable students to achieve strong results by building the support, cooperation, enthusiasm and energy of the people around them. Students will learn more efficiently while studying with Schouten University due to the fact that online learning degree programs are designed to apply theories to each individual students own life (your experience, existing knowledge and environment).
For example, subject to discussion with the course supervisor, students can choose topics for study assignments that are relevant to their work. As a result, students will:
- Develop a deeper understanding of current managerial theoretical concepts.
- Deliver practical results for employer’s.
In addition, throughout the course, students will mostly remain within their own work and home environments. Schouten University offers plenty of options to integrate work and distance learning study. This includes tools to get feedback on management skills from managers, colleagues or even clients. There are also opportunities to invite a senior colleague or manager to become a company coach for the skills development program. This allows students to gain direct feedback and support from within their organization.
The Blended Learning Approach
Schouten University introduces a new way of learning: Study 2.0. Students will study online through my.schoutenuniversity.com and interact via rich social media. It allows busy working professionals like you to study a world class MBA degree anytime, anywhere at any pace.

Accreditation
Educational accreditation is a type of quality assurance process under which services and operations of post-secondary educational institutions or programs are evaluated by an external body to determine if applicable standards are met. If standards are met, accredited status is granted. We collaborate with some of the world’s leading universities and institutes to maintain the highest possible quality of knowledge and skills development. This is reflected by Schouten Universities ambition to obtain multiple accreditations for their degree programs. For example, the MBA program will be subject to validation by the Cambridge-based Anglia Ruskin University (UK), meaning upon successful validation, our graduates will receive an accredited UK master degree. In future we will be adding further international accreditations to confirm the high quality and standards of Schouten University, such as AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB: the UK and European bodies for quality MBA programmes.
